If i can do 0 star that is what i would rate this law firm. I scheduled a consultation for a xoom meeting on Monday and they required me to pay 50 dollars. I called tuesday to cancel my appointment and to get my money back but i got disconnected and forgot to call them back again and no one from their office called me back when got disconnected. I called today around 12:30 to cancel my appointment but the receptionist told me that i cant have my money back which they did not disclose to me when i scheduled my appointment that i need to cancel it within 24 hours after scheduling it to get my money back and she was very rude to me. Very rude receptionist. I would never get this firm for anything about immigration needs. Bad attitude lady.

I review all feedback given to the firm. Your case was brought to my Office Managers attention. He reported that he tried to call you today and you did not pick up. You should have an email from him as well. Your concerns were brought up to me at the end of the day. I interviewed my staff. Based on your message and what they reported — I can understand your frustration. I am open to hearing your personal feedback. I invite you to contact my office for us to speak offline. I will be able to address anything else in more detail. I do want to express that I trust my people. I know that they work hard everyday to help immigrants get through an immigration system that is set up against them. They also do their best to abide by the policies and procedures in our firm. One such policy is requiring a reservation fee for potential new clients. As to the $50 reservation fee. We charge this to reserve the time with our firm. We schedule appointments and people sometimes choose to not show up. This is not fair to us and it is not fair to other people that want to meet us to help. It is not a consultation fee. It simply reserves your time with our firm. We will often count it towards your attorney fee if you hire us. About our client intake procedure. We use a two step process in assessing whether we can help on a case. Why? What others won’t tell you is that during an initial session with an attorney, most attorneys are usually trying to impress you with who they are and what they know so that you will hire them. They may even hold back information. They are not fully focused on putting a plan together to solve your actual problem. On our end I want my attorneys prepared to solve someone’s problem. Preparation takes time and research. We may know where to look for the answer but the immigration law changes often. Any attorney representing you needs to confirm that the law hasn’t changed against a particular set of facts. Additionally, once you have hired an attorney you want them focused on your case and not on meeting with potential new clients! At Godoy our attorneys are focused on resolving the immigration problems of the clients that have hired us to help them. Some clients have a significant history with immigration already. The combination of collecting information from the client and coming up with a real plan cannot be accomplished in a 30-40 minute meeting. If it is then it’s really a disservice to the client. I wanted something different for our clients. In our two step process, by the time you meet with an attorney the attorney devotes his or her full attention and has researched some possible solutions. Our first step is a meeting with a client relationship manager to determine your goals and to obtain preliminary information. That information is then reviewed by an attorney who makes an initial determination as to whether we can help. Then you decide whether you want to (1) do nothing about it; (2) try solving your problem yourself or (3) hire a law firm to help you. If you choose to hire us then we assign you an attorney for your case. The attorney meets with the client relationship manager to get the details and reviews any information given to us. The attorney then prepares for your attorney strategy session prior to your meeting. The second step in our process is the attorney strategy session with the attorney. Ideally the attorney can give you a full strategy. In some instances the attorney may go back to research based on your conversation. The point is that when the strategy session is over that you and the attorney have a plan. At any point any deposit previously made to engage our services is 100% refundable if you elect or we elect to not move forward with the case at that first attorney strategy session.
