Talked me up saying I had a case against my employer for wage theft and misclassification etc. Etc. Gave them all my paperwork and waited weeks and only got a response when I reached out to them only to say we cant assist you in this matter. No explanation or guidance on how to proceed with getting my employer to stop stealing my wages. None of my paperwork returned.ReportRe: Talked me up saying I had ... Law Office of Karen J. Sloat, APC replied on Thursday, March 11th 2021We devote significant firm resources to investigating potential cases before we decide whether the case is a good match for our firm. Investigations can take a long time because employers have up to 30 days to provide an employee's personnel file. Providing excellent legal services is our goal and helping people vindicate their employment rights is what we love doing. Sadly, that means that often our caseload prevents us from taking every potential case. While we are not able to give legal advice to persons whose cases we cannot take, we do try to refer them to another attorney or attorney referral source. We always return or offer to return to our clients (and potential clients) all documents they provided to us, and not just because the Rules of Professional Conduct prohibit a lawyer from retaining such documents, but because it's the right thing to do. This reviewer's documents were returned.
