Add ReviewI was injured 6 years ago in a bicycle accident. While cycling to work a parked motorist opened their door into the bike lane and I endured a collision. David White of Breakstone, White & Gluck worked with me threw 5 surgeries (1 of which almost killed me), and 6 years of suffering. Over that time, I had countless questions and calls to David that he was able to give me guidance and direction. We ultimately settle the case before court. David was instrumental in the mediation process. He was of immense help to understand the current climate of the case at that time and my expectations. It was difficult for me not to take this personally and not get upset at the defendant as this has changed my life forever. I will likely never be able to cycle again. However, David again was able to help me see "the bottom line and end result" so I could make the best decision as to whether or not to go to trial. I have to mention that David was incredible and changed the entire dynamic of the case as he was able to discover evidence that was "absolute and damming to the defense" that otherwise may have never come to light. Evidence that made this a clear-cut case of their wrongdoing and responsibility.Report
As I have had time to reflect, settling the case was without question the best decision I made with his guidance. It has allowed me to finally put this nightmare behind me. I will never be 100% healthy again but, he was able to hold the other party accountable for their actions giving me some sense of satisfaction. This resulted in achieving life changing, long lasting, and financial freedom as a direct result of the settlement he negotiated. You can feel confident that David has vast knowledge of the law, judges, and defense lawyers so that you can make the best decision for yourself during your greatest time of need. I do absolutely recommend David, his staff, and firm to represent you in your greatest time of need. Thank you, David we did it!
Marc Breakstone is an absolute legend! He's like better call Saul except more badass (and obviously doesn't break the law lol). Marc and his team took care of everything for me. I barely had to lift a finger. And the settlement was FAR above what I was expecting.Report
I found Marc and his firm through a list of the top personal injury firms in Boston after I was injured riding my bike in the bike lane. I decided on Marc and his team after reading the stellar reviews he had on google. I knew I had to add to the list in hopes that it helps someone who finds themselves in a position similar to the one I was in. I can not express how thankful I am to have had Marc and his team on my side.
I am deeply thankful for attorney Marc Breakstone, his assistant Christine, and everything they was able to do for me and my case: While riding my scooter in a bike lane, a parked car opened their door causing me to crash into it. I suffered a broken hand, a concussion (requiring staples in my scalp), abrasions all over my body, and a hematoma in my leg. I didn’t even wake up til being loaded into the ambulance. While missing work and only being able to do light-duty activities while my arm was in a cast, I attempted calling the person’s car insurance company to try and work things out without a lawyer. They denied my claim stating that scooters were not covered. I became fearful of all my medical bills stacking up and was given Marc’s info as a referral. Immediately, he made me feel better. He explained there there was ample coverage in the person’s policy to take care of all my bills and so to just focus on getting myself healed. My hand required an expensive surgery and PT, and I also needed follow-ups for my head, neck, and leg. After recovering, Marc made sure everything was taken care of. He and his team were so relaxed they put me at ease, true professionals all of them. I would highly recommend him if you have had a scooter/bicycle accident. (And, as he reminded me in the very first phone call, please wear a helmet while riding!) Thank you Marc!Report
Marc Breakstone represented me in a personal injury case.Report
Throughout this experience I found Marc to be very knowledgeable, quite direct, and extremely efficient, which ultimately culminated in a quite favorable financial outcome.
Looking back on this experience, what I most appreciated about Marc was his excellent, nearly prescient, detailed guidance on what statement(s) or action(s) had sufficient legal weight as to be critically important to the case, something that few of us lay folks are familiar with. I quickly learned to trust in his experience and knowledge and support his recommendations to strengthen the case.
I attribute much of the favorable financial outcome of this case to Marc's tireless efforts.
Marc Breakstone did an amazing job representing my grandchildren who lost their mother in a tragic accident. We originally hired another lawyer who referred the case to Marc. After seven years of tireless and challenging effort, Marc got the case settled before we had to go to trial. Throughout the process, Marc kept us informed of all important developments in the case and let us know in clear terms what we should expect. It was an emotional roller coaster. Marc’s sensitivity and caring made it tolerable and was so important to our family. His determination and attention to detail were far beyond our expectations. He not only took care of the case, he took care of our family.Report
We will be forever grateful of Marc’s incredible advocacy and would recommend him to anyone who has suffered injury, or a terrible loss of a loved one. We also appreciate the fine work of his son, Reza Breakstone, and his assistant Christine Roberts.
Marc Breakstone represented us in a personal injury case after an incident involving a large corporation. The corporation’s insurance company was relentless with their denials and maneuvers. After seven years of Attorney Breakstone and his outstanding team’s commitment and hard work, Attorney Breakstone and his team saw our case to an out of court settlement. We sincerely appreciate Attorney Breakstone doggedly representing us. Without hesitation we highly recommend Marc and his team.Report
Marc did an outstanding job with my case. From the moment I met Marc, I knew I made the right decision to have him represent me. Marc kept it real with me the entire time, he never sugar-coated anything, which I respected so much. Most of all, Marc kept his promise and his word and for that, I'm FOREVER grateful!! THANK YOU so much Marc!!!Report
This review is for Marc Breakstone. I waited 2 years to post this review out of fear of retaliation. However, the truth needs to be spoken. I would unfortunately not recommend Marc to anyone due to the treatment I experienced by him as my lawyer. This is due to the following:Report
1. Marc took advantage of my helplessness/naivety as a newly injured and desperate victim by charging me a 50% lawyer's fee. The normal fee is 33%. Only after over 3 years of working together and being warned by many people about this fee being overpriced (even for the most difficult of cases), and only after repeated badgering on my part for those 3 years, did he lower the fee to 40% (still high). Accepting this fee was my own fault. But taking advantage of me was a choice he made himself.
2. I was not in control of my lawyer, he was in control of me. When I first hired Marc, he said to me verbatim, “I’ll be your lawyer, but you have to do everything I say. If I say jump, you say how high. Don’t ask questions, don’t talk back, etc.”
Being unfamiliar with lawyers, and desperate for help, I thought this was normal, and agreed. I did not realize that lawyers are supposed to work for their clients, not the other way around. Due to this, he had me doing work he should have been doing himself or asking his secretary to do, like lightening images, reaching out to office case managers, etc. All of this as a disabled young woman trying to recover from a traumatic brain injury.
He would sometimes ignore my emails or requests for information, shutting me down and ignoring what I saw to be crucial details of the case despite my objections, and refusing to communicate about them.
3. During the 4 total years we worked together, Marc regularly threatened me, cursed at me over the phone (including the F word, REGULARLY), and interrupted me when I spoke. For the most part, I feared receiving his phone calls, and finally after 3 years, I insisted that there be a few weeks where he only emailed me, so that our communications would be documented.
At times he refused to let me see parts of my case file, like the defense's IME report. I had to look up public court records online for litigation deadlines due to his refusal to share these things. After 3 years I confronted him about all these things and to his credit, he backed off somewhat. However, he threatened to quit 2 weeks before my arbitration, making me feel cornered into doing what he wanted.
4. He did not know the details of my case as well as he should have. I had to correct him several times when he mixed up crucial details of my case with others, such as another girl with a history of migraines. If I had mistakenly been ascribed with a history of migraines, it could have derailed my entire TBI case. For the most part, I did not feel I was represented to the extent I could and should have been.
All that to say, this was my experience working with Marc Breakstone. I have wondered many times whether I should report him to the Bar for the things I experienced. However, at this time, I am choosing to post this review in order to make the truth known and help me in my healing process as I move forward. Despite the things that occurred, I do choose to forgive Marc, hoping that he will use this review to treat others more respectfully in the future.
EDIT: As I always try to show gratitude, I want to express that I am grateful I was able to have a lawyer advocate for 3 years when many people have no one to represent them. I did express my gratitude to Marc for representing me when we parted ways, as I believe in giving credit where it is due. I could have had no advocate at all. However, I believe that God's protection of me in this case was *despite* the wrongdoing that was done to me by Marc. I am not angry anymore, however, I would not recommend him as an advocate to another client unless there was major change on his part in regard to the things listed above.
Ron Gluck is one of those people you didn’t wish you had to know, but if you do arrive in the unfortunate place of needing his services, you are so glad you have him on your side. I lost my husband in a tragic pedestrian accident in 2022. I needed a lawyer for all the complicated legal work of getting the insurance payout from the driver. Once we talked, Ron recognized another liable party, as well. Ron sued and won the full settlements from both the driver’s insurance and the other liable party’s insurance as well.Report
Ron is incredibly professional and skilled as a lawyer and got results that gave me financial peace-of-mind in raising my children.
As a grieving widow, living out the worst possible nightmare, what moved me most was Ron’s compassion. Every single time we talked, his genuine kindness was first and foremost. He had to ask me to do some hard things for the case, but was always sensitive to the fact that it might be triggering. Above all, I found him to be on the same page with me for every step. He knew I didn’t want to go after the driver’s family (neither of us wanted to cause this driver more pain and angst) or pursue anything that would bring the driver to court. He never pushed me into being more aggressive than I wanted to be. While I was aware that a win for me was a win for him (and a loss meant that he didn’t get paid), I ALWAYS felt like he put my best interests at heart even if it meant a smaller paycheck for him.
I’ve thought often that I hope I am never in a position to have to refer someone to a personal injury lawyer, but if I am, I would not hesitate to refer Ron with the highest praises.
Attorney Ron Gluck of Breakstone, White & Gluck, provided top notch legal representation to our daughter who was seriously injured when she was hit by a vehicle as a pedestrian. She was employed temporarily in Rhode Island (where the accident occurred), while maintaining New York State residency. The incident, therefore, involved two states and their different liability and health insurance laws. There were many complexities and layers involved in the case.Report
When your family is involved in this type of accident, traumatic injuries suffered, you’re mistaken if you think you have the luxury of time to solely focus on your child. In less than a week, we were being bombarded with phone calls from both insurance companies. At an unbelievable time, you realize you need an attorney much sooner than was thought. It was our great fortune that Ron Gluck handled the case. It gives you great comfort that you have one less worry.
At every step, Ron explained all the ins and outs of complicated insurance regulations, including the differences in how the two states would handle them.
Ron called when he said he would, provided very accurate timelines, responded to all questions/concerns quickly. Explained things in non-legal speak so that we could understand more easily. Nancy, his secretary, also very easy to talk with, informative, thorough.
We were confident in Ron’s abilities to handle all aspects of the case and comfortable knowing that no detail would be overlooked. In the end, he resolved the case by obtaining the maximum amount allowable and resolved all insurance issues.
We don’t hesitate in recommending Ron. At a time of great worry & stress, we were able to put the load of our daughter's accident in Ron’s very capable hands and concentrate on her recovery.
Thank You Ron!
